Easy and Delicious Slow Cooker Beef Ragu

Easy and Delicious Slow Cooker Beef Ragu

Sometimes a homecooked meal is just what you need to unwind after a long day, but the time and effort required to actually make said meal isn’t always what you want to deal with when you get home. But a delicious dinner is made even better when it’s also easy and convenient and nothing accomplishes that quite like setting the slow cooker and coming back to a hot and ready meal, which is exactly what you’ll have when you give this slow-cooked beef ragu a try! Made with Halal chuck roast, cooked until it’s perfectly tender, and served in a flavorful tomato sauce over a plate of warm pasta, it’s the ultimate meal to sit back and enjoy on a cold night when convenience is key.

Getting into the meat of the recipe, we used Halal chuck roast for this, which is perfect for providing plenty of beef throughout this recipe, so no bite is lacking. Chuck roast can tend to be tougher cuts of meat, but that isn’t a problem for a slow cooker recipe like this. After a few hours on high, it’s perfectly tender and juicy, and can be easily shredded with a couple forks.

Along with the beef, we kept the other ingredients nice and simple too, and it all cooks together, letting every amazing flavor come together and complement each other. We used a simple mix of herbs and spices like garlic, salt and pepper, a couple bay leaves, and a handful of thyme sprigs along with a few large carrots peeled and chopped into large chunks, keeping the flavors hearty without feeling the need to overcomplicate what is meant to be a simple recipe.

The long cooking time isn’t just for the beef, it also makes the carrots nice and tender. I’m biased, I already knew I was going to like the carrots, but even I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these in the end. I think that’s really the hidden allure of this recipe, it makes everything in it better! Tender beef is good, but it’s made great when it’s paired with the seasonings and served with pasta, and the carrots are good on their own, but they’re made that much better when you get to enjoy them with the juicy shredded beef, tender pasta, and the tomato sauce that’s a combination of all the flavors that have been cooking together all day.

This recipe couldn’t be easier, it’s a great one to throw into the crockpot, go about your day, and when you’re ready to eat just shred the beef while you cook some pasta and you’re all set. This was a recipe that surprised me, I was excited to give it a try and it was a big hit around the office and we think it’ll be a hit when you try it for yourself at home. Give it a try, let us know what you think or what you did differently, and as always, share it with someone because great meals are better together. We hope to see you again soon with another great recipe so enjoy this one until then!
