Upside-Down Halal Sausage Pizza!

Upside-Down Halal Sausage Pizza!

We’re keeping it pizza themed this week with the upside down pizza. I have to tell you, I was concerned about flipping this. I’ve made pineapple upside down cake many, many times in my life with my mom or my sitt’i, but… pizza is a different beast entirely. I was convinced that the cheese would burn to the sides during baking but, thanks to the miracle that is the non-stick pan, this pizza came out perfectly.

So go forth with confidence (assuming you use a non-stick pan, I can’t imagine it would work without one), and create the pizza of your dreams! I’m excited to try this again with more of our toppings. When I was a kid, there was a pizza place in town that was owned by muslims who used our pizza toppings and we’d always get meat lovers pizza from them. Unfortunately, they closed but now? I have the power to make my own meat lovers pizza… and so do you with our huge range of products. I know, shameless self-promotion but, I mean. C’mon, look where you’re at right? 😉

Ingredients:

Midamar Seasoned Beef Topping, or other pizza toppings (about 2 cups, divided)

1 Tbsp Butter

1 small yellow onion, sliced

8 oz sliced baby bella mushrooms

Crumbled parmesan

1 lb Mozzarella, freshly shredded

10 slices provolone

¼-1/2 cup pizza sauce

20 oz pre-made pizza dough

Olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1) Melt butter, add onion and cook until just starting to turn translucent (about 3 minutes). Add Mushrooms, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and cook until mushrooms soften and most of the liquid evaporates (about 5-8 minutes)

2) In a 10 in non-stick oven safe pan, spread mushroom and onions, cover as much of the bottom as possible. Layer Pizza topping, in our case beef topping, parmesan, mozzarella, more beef topping, provolone, pizza sauce (spread thin), pizza crust. Push pizza crust into edges and brush with olive oil

3) Bake at 400° for ~45 minutes or until crush is golden brown. Remove from oven and flip out onto a large cutting board. Slice pizza into 8 slices and enjoy!
