Homemade and Halal Crunchwrap Copycat

Homemade and Halal Crunchwrap Copycat

Let’s talk about fast food, it’s quick, it’s easy, it’s cheap, and there’s nothing wrong with saying that it’s usually pretty delicious, and a personal favorite of mine is the crunchwrap from Taco Bell that, for all the reasons listed above, hits the spot every now and then. Then what a fun coincidence it is that this week we have a copycat crunchwrap recipe that’s a quick and easy way to satisfy those drive-thru cravings, made Halal and from the comfort of your own kitchen.

If you’re a Halal consumer, it can be hard to satisfy the occasional fast-food craving and stay Halal, but we’ve got you covered. We wanted to make this recipe as easy as possible, convenience is the whole appeal of fast-food after all, so for this recipe we used Midamar’s Halal taco seasoned beef topping which gives great taco meat flavor and comes pre-cooked and seasoned, saving you a few steps in the preparation. 1 pound of taco beef will make plenty of wraps so you’ll get a great return on the time you spent making these. Aside from heating the meat, the only thing that needs preparing for this recipe is the homemade queso which is done in no time, all you need is to make a roux in a pan, add some milk, and slowly mix in freshly shredded cheese until you have smooth and melty queso. Doing this slowly and making sure the cheese is melting as you mix is essential for preventing lumps and keeping the queso smooth, perfect for spreading inside the wrap. After laying out your ingredients in the center of a tortilla, fold the edges over to seal everything in and believe it or not you’re basically done with the recipe, all that’s left is a quick trip to a hot pan, just long enough to make both sides of the wraps golden brown and just a little crispy.

Congratulations, you’ve just made your own homemade crunchwraps! See how easy that is? And is it better than the original? You can decide but either way you’ll have delicious and Halal crunchwrap copycats to hit the spot next time you have a craving for fast-food convenience so enjoy these until we bring you a new recipe next week.
